La Fabrique du Présent

La Fabrique du Présent

The Last Supper is the first chapter of an ongoing project: "The Fabrication of the Present". After "The Immovable Furniture" and "The Use of Days", "The Fabrication of the Present" has emerged to me as the space to question this trembling that is specific to humans and makes it their radical singularity in the consciousness they have of it. For what makes us human if not what makes us tremble?

"The Use of Days" has taught me that it is often in the tremor of its imperfection that the poetry of an object emerges. "The Fabrication of the Present" is the desire to create objects that have the power of a sketch. Its speed, efficiency, and paradox. Wax allows for this. By imagining these "sketch-objects" cast in bronze, I seek to bring to life an unsteady and powerful universe. Fragile yet enduring. From marble to ceramics to bronze, in the history of materials, the path seemed obvious to me. With bronze, we find the strength of marble, its mass, its weight, along with the ease of execution inherent in ceramics, thanks to the wax in which forms are invented. Bronze is an epiphany of earth and marble.
